Wolves Humble West Ham as Pressure Mounts on Nuno

Hammers slump deep into relegation trouble

West Ham’s worrying slide towards relegation continued with a humiliating 3-0 defeat at Wolves, a side who had not won a league game all season before this encounter. The result was effectively settled before half-time and left Hammers boss Nuno Espirito Santo under intense pressure.

The London club remain 18th in the Premier League, four points from safety, and are now nine games without a win. For Nuno, returning to Molineux ended in frustration as his former club outplayed and outworked his struggling side from start to finish.

Wolves strike early and never look back

Wolves started with confidence and took the lead inside four minutes. Hwang Hee-Chan burst into the box from the left and pulled the ball back for Jhon Arias, who slid in to score his first goal for the club from close range.

The early goal lifted the home crowd and Wolves continued to play with energy and belief. West Ham struggled to settle and were second best in midfield, allowing the hosts to control the tempo.

The lead doubled on 31 minutes when referee Peter Bankes awarded a penalty after Soungoutou Magassa brought down Mateus Mane in the area. Hwang calmly sent Alphonse Areola the wrong way to make it 2-0.

Mane seals dominant first half

Wolves were not finished. Mane, already causing problems with his movement and confidence, produced a moment of quality shortly before the break. The teenager turned sharply outside the box and drilled a low shot into the bottom corner from 18 yards to make it 3-0.

It was a stunning strike and a deserved reward for Wolves’ best spell of the season.

West Ham offer no response

West Ham improved slightly after the interval but never looked capable of mounting a comeback. Areola made several saves to prevent the scoreline from getting worse, denying Mane again and keeping out a header from Yerson Mosquera.

Despite needing goals, Nuno chose not to introduce new signing Pablo Felipe, and the visitors failed to register a single shot on target. The home fans mocked their former manager as the match drifted to a one-sided conclusion.

Wolves finally celebrate

For Wolves, it was a rare bright moment in a difficult campaign and their first league win of the season. For West Ham, it was another damaging night that deepened fears of relegation and left serious questions hanging over their direction.
