United’s Rollercoaster Crashes Again
Early chaos sinks United
The excitement from last week’s win over Chelsea was supposed to be a turning point. Instead, Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United fell flat once more. Brentford tore into them with two goals in the opening 25 minutes, both scored by the in-form Igor Thiago. United’s defense looked lost, Maguire and De Ligt badly exposed, while goalkeeper Bayindir could only watch the damage pile up.
Sesko strikes, but problems remain
Benjamin Sesko gave United hope with his first goal for the club, reacting quickly after Kelleher spilled the ball. But that was as good as it got. United’s play was messy: sloppy passes, weak defending, and no real cutting edge up front. Every familiar frustration was on display.

Bruno Fernandes then had the chance to drag United level from the penalty spot, but once again he failed. Kelleher guessed right, saving his second penalty against United in London this season. The fans’ chants of “attack, attack, attack” told their own story.
All-out attack, total collapse
Amorim threw everything forward late on, sending on Mainoo, Mount, and Zirkzee in attacking roles. But it only left United wide open. In stoppage time, Brentford’s substitute Mathias Jensen punished them, blasting a shot through Bayindir to seal the game.

Brentford rise, United sink
For Brentford, it was a statement victory – energy, structure, and a clear plan. Henderson controlled midfield, Thiago led the line with power, and the home crowd roared them on.
For United, the numbers under Amorim now look grim: 9 wins, 7 draws, 17 defeats in the league. The dream of momentum keeps slipping away. One step forward, two steps back – the story of their season.
