United fight for Europe vs desperate West Ham
United trying to stay in the race
Manchester United need a win to forget their recent struggles against West Ham and keep their European hopes alive. They beat Crystal Palace 2–1 after a bad first half, showing character after the Everton disaster.
Ruben Amorim’s team has lost only once in seven games and they are tough to beat at home in mid-week matches with seventeen league games in a row without defeat at Old Trafford on a weekday. But fans are still nervous. If United lose, Amorim could become the fastest United manager ever to reach ten home league defeats. That is not a record he wants.

West Ham in trouble
West Ham suffered a painful weekend. They lost 2–0 to Liverpool just days after the sad news of club legend Billy Bonds passing away. They are outside the relegation zone only because of goals scored. The form away from home is a real problem.
West Ham have only one away league win this season and it came at Nottingham Forest when Nuno Espírito Santo was still coaching Forest. They need points fast or they will fall into the bottom three.
Head-to-head nightmare for United
United have lost four of their last five league games against West Ham. That is more defeats than in the previous twenty-eight league meetings. West Ham even won 2–0 at Old Trafford last season and ended a sixteen-match run without winning there. They have not won two league games in a row at Old Trafford since 1934, so history is also against them.
Players to watch
Joshua Zirkzee finally scored after twenty-four Premier League matches without a goal when he equalised against Palace. Seven of his eight United goals came after half-time. Jarrod Bowen has scored in both meetings last season and could become the first West Ham player since Jermain Defoe to score in three straight league games against United.
United are missing Harry Maguire and Benjamin Šeško, but hope to get Matheus Cunha back. West Ham are without Lucas Paquetá due to suspension and Crysencio Summerville is a doubt.
BET TIP
Despite United’s poor head-to-head record recently, West Ham’s away problems and missing key players give the hosts an edge. United should find enough attacking quality to get through.
