Torres Double, Rashford Assist: Barça Keep Rolling in La Liga
Barcelona kept their unbeaten start alive with a lively win over Getafe, powered by two first-half strikes from Ferran Torres and a smart Marcus Rashford assist after the break.
Torres on Fire
The game burst into life early when Dani Olmo’s clever backheel unlocked the Getafe defence in the 15th minute. Torres pounced and coolly finished past David Soria to put the home side ahead.
It didn’t take long for him to strike again. Just before the half-hour mark, Raphinha launched a pinpoint ball from deep inside his own half. Torres timed his run perfectly and drove a low shot into the corner, doubling Barça’s lead. He nearly had a first-half hat-trick too, rattling the crossbar with a spectacular volley.

Rashford’s Impact
Rashford, who started on the bench, came on at half-time for Raphinha, who had been walking a fine line after an earlier booking. The Englishman wasted no time in making his mark.
On 62 minutes, he sprinted down the right wing, broke the offside trap, and set up Olmo with a perfect pull-back. Olmo made no mistake, firing home from the edge of the box to seal Barça’s third of the night.
Rashford even came close to scoring himself in stoppage time, forcing Soria into a sharp save. It was his second straight La Liga match providing an assist — following up his two-goal midweek showing in Europe.
Flick Plays It Cool
When asked why Rashford didn’t start, coach Hansi Flick kept it calm: “Rotation is normal. We play every few days, so fresh legs are important.”
Despite whispers in the Spanish press about Rashford being late to a morning meeting, Flick focused on the positives: the squad’s depth and strong collective performance.

Feisty Battle
The first half wasn’t short on drama. Getafe coach José Bordalás picked up a yellow card on the sidelines, while three of his players were also booked in a scrappy spell. Javi Muñoz almost pulled one back for the visitors just after the restart, but Barça weathered the storm.
Title Race Heating Up
The win means Barcelona remain unbeaten, with their only slip so far being a draw against Rayo Vallecano. After five games, they sit second, just behind rivals Real Madrid.
With Torres sharp, Rashford adding flair off the bench, and Olmo pulling the strings, Barça’s title defence looks well on track — even if they’re currently playing at the smaller Johan Cruyff Stadium while Camp Nou undergoes its facelift.
