Olmo Fires Barcelona to Comeback Win Over Alavés
Barça Shocked, Then Inspired
Barcelona bounced back from their Champions League disappointment with a hard-earned 3–1 win over Alavés, powered by a Dani Olmo brace. The victory keeps them two points clear at the top of LaLiga, though Real Madrid have a game in hand.
But things could not have started worse. Just seconds in, Barça’s defence fell asleep at a corner and Pablo Ibáñez pounced inside the six-yard box to silence Camp Nou.
Yamal Sparks the Fightback
Barça reacted instantly. Raphinha delivered a sensational early cross, and 17-year-old Lamine Yamal blasted the ball into the roof of the net to level the match after only eight minutes. His energy and movement repeatedly unsettled Alavés, who looked dangerous on the counter.
The visitors nearly struck again when Abde Rebbach broke down the left and set up Jonny Otto, but Joan Garcia produced a crucial save.
Olmo Takes Control
Barcelona punished the miss immediately. Raphinha found Olmo in space inside the box and the midfielder calmly tapped in to complete the turnaround.
Before halftime, Yamal rounded the goalkeeper and somehow missed an open goal — a huge let-off for Alavés.
Barça Push and Seal the Win
Barcelona controlled the second half but couldn’t extend their lead despite multiple chances. Antonio Sivera denied Robert Lewandowski from point-blank range, and Yamal fired inches over from distance.
Relief finally arrived in stoppage time. Yamal and Olmo combined beautifully, and the Spaniard slotted into the bottom corner to kill the game and complete his brace.
A gritty win, not a glamorous one — but one that keeps Barcelona top of LaLiga.
