No Lautaro, No Problem!  Thuram the Hero as Inter Crush Ajax

Inter Milan’s Champions League journey began in the best possible way — with Marcus Thuram leading the charge. The French striker scored twice in a dominant 2-0 win over Ajax, proving he is ready to be the star of this campaign. It was a night when Inter showed power, calm, and confidence. And Thuram was at the heart of it all.

Two Goals, One Hero

Both goals came the same way. Hakan Calhanoglu delivered his trademark corner, and Thuram attacked the ball with determination. Once in the first half. Once in the second. Both times the net bulged. Both times Ajax defenders were left watching.

At 28 years old, Thuram is in red-hot form. Five goals in just four games across all competitions. He’s hungry, sharp, and ruthless. For Inter fans, this is exactly the answer after last season’s heartbreak in the Champions League final.

Ajax Miss Their Moment

Could it have been different? Maybe. Just before Thuram’s opener, Ajax’s young winger Mika Godts found himself clean through. The 20-year-old had the chance to make the Dutch side dream. But Inter’s goalkeeper Yann Sommer produced a fantastic stop.

Seconds later, Ajax were punished. That’s football. One miss at one end, one goal at the other.

After that, Ajax never really recovered. They had energy, they pushed, but they lacked precision. Inter’s defence stood tall. The Italian giants never looked in real danger.

Inter Look Confident Under Chivu

This was Cristian Chivu’s first Champions League game as Inter boss. He replaced Simone Inzaghi after the painful final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last season. But if there were nerves, they didn’t show.

Eight of the same players from Munich started in Amsterdam, and they looked determined to put things right. Inter played with control. With focus. With hunger.

Even without Lautaro Martinez, their captain, they looked strong. Lautaro stayed on the bench with a back problem, but Thuram made sure nobody missed him.

The Road Ahead

For Inter, this is just the start. Slavia Prague visit the San Siro next, while Ajax must regroup quickly before facing Marseille in France.

Can Thuram keep this electric form going? Can Inter finally go one step further and win the Champions League?

The journey has only just begun.
