Napoli Nightmare: From 1-0 Up to 6-2 Down!

From early promise to total chaos! Napoli’s night in the Netherlands turned into a six-goal nightmare.

Napoli’s Champions League campaign hit a new low in Eindhoven as PSV thrashed the Italians 6-2 in a match full of mistakes, red cards, and goals galore. What started with hope quickly turned into a disaster that few saw coming.

Dream Start Turns Sour

With several key players injured, including Lukaku, Lobotka, and Hojlund, Napoli still began brightly. Leonardo Spinazzola whipped in a superb cross, and Scott McTominay powered home a header to give the visitors the lead. His first European goal in Napoli colors seemed to promise a solid night ahead.

But just minutes later, everything began to fall apart. A cross from Ivan Perisic was deflected into the net by defender Alessandro Buongiorno, turning joy into disbelief. PSV smelled blood — and Napoli completely lost control.

PSV Take Full Control

Only three minutes after the equaliser, Ismael Saibari led a lightning counterattack, racing through Napoli’s defense to slot past Milinkovic-Savic and put PSV ahead. From that point on, the Dutch side dominated every inch of the pitch.

In the second half, things went from bad to worse. Napoli’s defense crumbled again as Dennis Man pounced on a cut-back to score from close range, nutmegging Beukema in the process. Moments later, Lorenzo Lucca saw red for dissent — a moment of madness that summed up Napoli’s unraveling.

PSV Run Rampant

With a man advantage, PSV had fun. Man struck again with a rocket at the near post, before substitute Ricardo Pepi and Saidy Driouech added goals of their own in the final minutes. Driouech’s thunderous strike under the bar was the final blow to a broken Napoli side.

McTominay did grab a late consolation with another header, but it was far too little, far too late. By then, the damage was done — and PSV were celebrating one of their most dominant European wins in years.

What’s Next?

For Napoli, the questions will be hard to avoid. A team that once led the match fell apart completely, both mentally and defensively. For PSV, this was pure joy — pace, power, and precision on home soil.

Final score: PSV 6–2 Napoli.
A night Eindhoven won’t forget — and one Napoli will want to erase fast.
