Monaco Shock PSG to End Their Crisis

Minamino Delivers the Turning Point

AS Monaco finally snapped their three-match losing streak in spectacular fashion, defeating Paris Saint-Germain 1–0 at the Stade Louis II. A team in freefall found its lifeline through Takumi Minamino, whose decisive finish exposed PSG’s complacency and put their Ligue 1 lead at serious risk.

PSG, fresh off a dominant Champions League display, were unrecognisably passive. Their lack of intensity, poor movement between the lines and slow tempo allowed Monaco to dictate the game from the start.

Monaco Take Control While PSG Sleep

Monaco set the tone early through Mohammed Salisu, who dominated set pieces at both ends. The centre-back forced a low save from Lucas Chevalier, then struck the post with a powerful header. His disallowed goal from a corner showed how dangerous Monaco’s early pressure had been.

Despite Monaco’s momentum, PSG failed to respond. Their slow, predictable play carried into the second half — until they were finally punished.

Minamino Strikes the Decisive Blow

A long ball from Salisu carved through PSG’s defensive line and found Aleksandr Golovin sprinting into space. His precise low cross met Minamino, who finished sharply at the near post. It was a simple sequence that exposed PSG’s lethargy and rewarded Monaco’s aggression.

The goal lifted the stadium and pushed Monaco toward a win that felt increasingly deserved.

PSG’s Late Wake-Up Call Comes Too Late

Monaco’s evening took a hit when Thilo Kehrer was sent off in the 80th minute, giving PSG a full 10 minutes with a numerical advantage. But instead of controlled pressure, PSG produced rushed, frantic attacks.

Ousmane Dembélé came closest to equalising, but Lukas Hradecky rose to the occasion with a brilliant stop. The Finnish goalkeeper stood firm through PSG’s final flurry, sealing a victory that revives Monaco’s European push.

For PSG, the loss is a warning sign. Their lead at the top is no longer secure — and could disappear if Marseille win their upcoming match against Toulouse.

Monaco, meanwhile, breathe again. And they do so at the expense of the reigning champions.
