Mbappé Haunts Monaco as Real Madrid Cruise to Champions League Rout
Former Club No Match for Rampant Real Madrid
Kylian Mbappé showed no mercy against his former club as Real Madrid swept aside Monaco with a commanding 6-1 Champions League victory at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Mbappé, who spent five years at Monaco before launching his career at Paris Saint-Germain, struck twice inside the opening 26 minutes to put Real firmly in control and strengthen their push for a top-eight finish in the league phase.
Goals from Franco Mastantuono, a Thilo Kehrer own goal, Vinícius Júnior and Jude Bellingham completed a dominant night for Real in Álvaro Arbeloa’s first Champions League match in charge.

Mbappé Leads Early Onslaught
Real made a fast start and were ahead after just five minutes. Franco Mastantuono fed Federico Valverde, whose touch set up Mbappé to finish precisely from inside the box beyond Philipp Köhn.
Vinícius went close soon after, while Monaco wasted a golden chance to respond when Ansu Fati, on loan from Barcelona, failed to convert from close range.
Mbappé doubled his tally with a sweeping team move that highlighted Real’s attacking quality. Eduardo Camavinga flicked the ball into Arda Güler’s path before Vinícius raced down the left and squared for Mbappé to side-foot home his 32nd goal of the season.
Monaco Threaten but Real Remain Ruthless
Despite facing an uphill battle, Monaco still carried a threat. Jordan Teze struck the crossbar from distance, while Thibaut Courtois denied efforts from Maghnes Akliouche and Folarin Balogun.
Mastantuono nearly added another before the break, picking out Jude Bellingham with a cross that the England midfielder headed over.
Goals Keep Flowing After the Break
The second half followed the same pattern. Mastantuono scored his first Champions League goal, finishing calmly after a clever Vinícius pass from a tight angle.
Moments later, Thilo Kehrer turned Vinícius’ cross into his own net before the Brazilian produced a superb strike from 12 yards following a rapid counter-attack.
Monaco grabbed a consolation when Real were caught playing out from the back, allowing Teze to score with 18 minutes remaining.
Bellingham Completes the Rout
Any hope of a comeback was ended when Jude Bellingham rounded Köhn and lifted the ball into the net to cap a comprehensive victory.
The result lifts Real Madrid into second place in the group standings and marks a perfect Champions League response after Arbeloa’s difficult debut ended in a Copa del Rey defeat.
