Manchester United Are Back at Square One Again
Another manager gone, another huge decision
Manchester United are once again searching for a new manager after the dismissal of Ruben Amorim. It is the seventh time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 that the club has been forced to restart.
Each time, the same message comes out of Old Trafford: this appointment has to be the right one. And each time, United fail to solve the biggest problem in world football — finding someone who can actually handle the job.
This is not just any role. Managing Manchester United is one of the hardest jobs in sport.

Why the job keeps breaking managers
United are not a normal football club. They are loud, political and constantly judged. Former players dominate the media, fans expect attacking football, and pressure arrives instantly.
Since Ferguson, every appointment has fallen short in a different way. David Moyes was overwhelmed. Louis van Gaal was too rigid. José Mourinho had the pedigree but arrived too late. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lacked authority. Erik ten Hag and Amorim both struggled with the scale of the role.
Sources suggest Amorim, despite his success at Sporting, was not ready. He promised flexibility but stuck to his system. He struggled with criticism and the daily noise around the club. In the end, United paid the price again.
United must stop gambling
This time, United cannot take another risk. They do not need a “project coach” or a rising talent. They need a proven elite manager with authority, experience and presence.
Names like Thomas Tuchel, Carlo Ancelotti and Mauricio Pochettino fit that profile. Waiting may be painful, but another gamble could be disastrous. Appointing someone quickly just to fill the seat has failed too many times already.
The club must decide what it wants: a true leader, or another compromise.
Personality matters as much as tactics
Sir Alex Ferguson always said the manager must be the biggest personality at the club. Right now, United do not have that anywhere near the dugout.
This is an alpha club without an alpha figure. Until that changes, tactics will not matter, transfers will not matter, and progress will remain slow.
Manchester United need someone who can embrace the pressure, control the narrative and win — not survive.
This is the moment to finally change the story.
