Madrid Slip Again as Girona Halt Title Push
Real Madrid failed to return to the top of LaLiga after drawing 1-1 with struggling Girona — their third straight draw and another worrying sign in their recent slump.
Ounahi Strikes Before Halftime to Shock Madrid
Madrid looked flat in attack and paid the price just before halftime. Éder Militão, back from injury, gave Azzedine Ounahi too much room, and the Girona midfielder finished calmly from Viktor Tsygankov’s pass. Girona had already threatened through Ounahi and Bryan Gil, and Madrid couldn’t respond.

Mbappé Saves Point but Not Madrid’s Form
Kylian Mbappé equalised in the 67th minute with a perfect penalty after Hugo Rincón fouled Vinícius Júnior. It was Mbappé’s 28th goal this season — but Madrid still struggled to create danger. Mbappé, Tchouaméni and Vinícius all missed big chances, while another Mbappé goal was ruled out for handball.
Title Race Swings as Barca Move Back On Top
Madrid started the weekend ahead of Barcelona but ended it a point behind. They now have one win in their last five matches and couldn’t find a late winner despite good chances for Militão, Jude Bellingham and Vinícius.
The draw leaves the title race wide open — and Madrid searching for answers.
