La Masia Magic: Barcelona’s Young Guns Destroy Olympiacos 6–1

Barcelona hit Olympiacos for six as Fermin shines before El Clásico

Barcelona delivered a show at Montjuïc — six goals, pure confidence, and a message to Real Madrid ahead of Sunday’s El Clásico. Hansi Flick’s young guns took full control, crushing Olympiacos 6–1 in a Champions League night full of drama, VAR checks, and rising stars.

A wild first half — goals, chaos, and VAR twists

Barça were already two up when the game suddenly turned chaotic. Olympiacos thought they had pulled one back with a header from Ayoub El Kaabi, but after a long VAR review, the goal was ruled out for offside. Seconds later, the same review found a handball from Eric Garcia — and this time Olympiacos did get a penalty.

El Kaabi calmly slotted it home to make it 2–1 and briefly raise Greek hopes. But those hopes didn’t last long. Only minutes later, Santiago Hezze saw red for a second yellow card — a very soft decision that left Olympiacos furious. From that point, Barcelona had total control.

Rashford’s rollercoaster night

Marcus Rashford, leading the line, had a strange but productive evening. He struggled when holding the ball up as a central striker but looked far more dangerous once moved to the left wing.

After a VAR review overturned the referee’s original call, Rashford won a penalty — Lamine Yamal stepped up and coolly scored to make it 3–1. Rashford later added a brilliant goal himself, cutting inside and curling the ball past a helpless keeper. That’s now four goals in three Champions League games for the English forward — a statement ahead of the trip to Madrid.

Fermin steals the spotlight with hat-trick heroics

The night truly belonged to Fermin Lopez. The 22-year-old midfielder was everywhere — sharp, fearless, and ruthless in front of goal. His first came from a scramble in the box, his second after a clever move created by young Dro Fernandez, and his third a rocket from the edge of the area.

It was his first senior hat-trick — and the first by a Spanish player for Barcelona in the Champions League. Not bad timing, considering the team’s growing injury list. With Lewandowski and Olmo out, and Raphinha racing the clock, Fermin’s form could be exactly what Flick needs at the Bernabéu.

A new La Masia gem

Speaking of youth, remember the name Dro Fernandez. The 17-year-old winger made only his second start but looked like he’d been there for years. Quick, smart, and confident, he played a big role in Barça’s second goal and earned a warm ovation when subbed off.

Seven academy graduates started for Barcelona — proof that Flick’s trust in La Masia is paying off.

With a 6–1 win in the bag and confidence sky-high, Barça now turn their focus to El Clásico. Madrid, consider yourselves warned.
