Kane hits 20 as Bayern demolish Wolfsburg in eight-goal rout
Bayern turn on the style after the break
Harry Kane reached the 20-goal mark in the Bundesliga as Bayern Munich swept aside Wolfsburg 8-1 at the Allianz Arena, producing a devastating second-half display after a competitive opening period.
The England captain was joined on the scoresheet by Michael Olise, who struck twice, with Luis Díaz, Raphaël Guerreiro and Leon Goretzka also finding the net in a commanding win.
Kane keeps historic pace
Kane’s 69th-minute strike maintained his remarkable scoring rate, keeping him on track to challenge Robert Lewandowski’s record 41-goal league season from 2020-21.
The result also saw Bayern open up an 11-point lead at the top of the table after Borussia Dortmund dropped points in their 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday.
Fast start and surprise response
Bayern wasted little time in their first match after the winter break, taking the lead after just five minutes when Díaz’s dangerous cross was deflected into his own net by Wolfsburg defender Kilian Fischer.
Díaz missed a chance to double the advantage soon after, and Wolfsburg responded in unexpected fashion. Lovro Majer slid in Dzenan Pejcinovic, who calmly finished past Manuel Neuer to level the match after 13 minutes.

Bayern edge ahead before the break
The equaliser briefly lifted the visitors, with Majer seeing a shot blocked and Christian Eriksen firing narrowly wide.
Bayern regained control on the half-hour mark when Olise’s corner found Díaz, who rose to head home and restore the hosts’ lead. Kane required brief treatment before the interval but was able to continue, with Bayern leading 2-1 at halftime.
Olise takes centre stage
The second half belonged to Michael Olise. Five minutes after the restart, the France international cut inside and curled a precise finish into the far corner to extend Bayern’s lead.
Moments later, Olise turned provider as his involvement led to Moritz Jenz turning the ball into his own net, following an exquisite long-range pass from Kane.
Kane and company run riot
Wolfsburg struggled to contain Bayern’s relentless pressure, and the goals continued to flow.
Kane struck a superb curling effort from 17 yards, finding the woodwork on his way to goal, before Raphaël Guerreiro added another just seconds later.
Olise completed his brace late on, and Leon Goretzka rounded off the scoring in the 88th minute, sliding in from a tight angle to cap a ruthless attacking display.
Bayern extend their lead
The emphatic victory underlined Bayern’s dominance and further strengthened their grip on the Bundesliga title race as Vincent Kompany’s side pulled clear at the summit.
