Ghana Close In on World Cup Dream, Cameroon Survive, Madagascar Inspire – African Qualifiers Explode!
It was another wild night in African World Cup qualifying — Ghana are almost there, Madagascar refuse to quit, and Cameroon keep their hopes alive. Meanwhile, Angola, Mali, and Comoros bow out.
Ghana crush Central African Republic
Ghana took a giant leap toward the 2026 World Cup with a stunning 5–0 victory over the Central African Republic. Mohammed Salisu opened the scoring with a header from a Kudus corner before Thomas Partey doubled the lead. Jordan Ayew was the star of the show — assisting two goals and scoring a brilliant volley himself. Kamaldeen Sulemana wrapped it up late as the Black Stars flexed their dominance.
Madagascar stun Comoros in the rain
Madagascar kept their World Cup hopes alive with a gutsy 2–1 win over Comoros in stormy conditions. Clément Couturier’s deflected strike gave them an early lead before Ahmad Raheriniania doubled the advantage with a diving header. Comoros pulled one back through Rafiki Said Ahumada, but it wasn’t enough — and a late red card for goalkeeper Salim Ben Boinia sealed their fate.
Cameroon grind it out
Cameroon battled past Mauritius 2–0 to stay within touching distance of Group D leaders Cabo Verde. Nicolas Ngamaleu broke the deadlock after a defensive mix-up, and substitute Bryan Mbeumo finished the job in added time. With one game left, the Indomitable Lions are still roaring.

Cabo Verde fight back in thriller
Cabo Verde missed the chance to qualify early after a thrilling 3–3 draw with Libya. An early own goal from Pico and two strikes by El Maremi put Libya in control, but the Blue Sharks refused to give up. Telmo Arcanjo, Lopes Cabral, and Willy Semedo led a brilliant comeback to keep Cabo Verde two points clear at the top.
Mali win but go home
Despite Kamory Doumbia’s brace in a 2–0 win over Chad, Mali’s qualification hopes ended. The result lifted them to third place, but it was too little, too late for the Eagles.
Eswatini end Angola’s dream
Justice Figuareido struck twice as Eswatini held Angola 2–2, officially ending the Palancas Negras’ hopes of making the World Cup.
