Europa League Matchday 3: Forest’s Historic Win and a Night Full of Shocks!
Forest end 29-year wait in style
After nearly three decades, Nottingham Forest are winners in Europe again. Under new coach Sean Dyche, they delivered a confident 2–0 victory over Porto.
Captain Morgan Gibbs-White opened the scoring from the penalty spot after a handball, and Igor Jesus sealed the result with another cool finish from 12 yards. Porto rarely threatened, and Forest fans finally had a European night to celebrate again.

Plzeň stun Roma at the Olimpico
Few gave Viktoria Plzeň a chance against Roma, but the Czech side silenced the crowd with two quick goals in the first half.
Prince Kwabena Adu and Cheick Souaré punished Roma’s sloppy defending to make it 2–0 before the break. Paulo Dybala converted a penalty — the 200th goal of his career — but Plzeň’s defence held firm. For new coach Martin Hyský, it was a dream start to life in Europe.
Eagles fly past Aston Villa
In Deventer, Go Ahead Eagles pulled off another major upset, beating Aston Villa 2–1. Villa struck early through Evann Guessand, but Mathis Suray equalised just before half-time, and captain Mats Deijl completed the turnaround after the break.
Villa could have rescued a point late on, but Emiliano Buendía sent his penalty over the bar — summing up a frustrating night for the Premier League side.
Fenerbahçe edge Stuttgart
Kerem Aktürkoğlu’s first-half penalty made the difference as Fenerbahçe beat Stuttgart 1–0, keeping the Turkish giants perfect at home. The visitors missed a big late chance, meaning the German side stay on three points.
Elsewhere in Europe

Brann continued their strong form with a 3–0 win over Rangers, while Lyon made it three wins from three after beating Basel 2–0. Celtic also grabbed their first victory of the campaign, coming from behind to beat Sturm Graz 2–1.
Lille lost a seven-goal thriller 4–3 against PAOK, Freiburg and Feyenoord both cruised to home wins, and Ferencváros edged Salzburg 3–2 in another high-scoring battle.
It was a night of upsets, history, and pure football drama — everything the Europa League is known for.
