Borussia Dortmund beat Gladbach to extend Bundesliga momentum

Brandt fires Dortmund ahead early

Borussia Dortmund continued their strong Bundesliga form with a 2-0 home win over Borussia Mönchengladbach at Signal Iduna Park. Julian Brandt opened the scoring in the 10th minute, finishing a well-worked move as Dortmund dominated the early stages.

Niklas Süle delivered a precise cross from the right flank, finding Brandt unmarked at the far post. The midfielder volleyed home confidently to give Niko Kovač’s side a deserved early lead.

Dortmund pressed aggressively after the opener, with Serhou Guirassy heading wide soon after and Karim Adeyemi forcing Moritz Nicolas into a sharp save midway through the first half. Gladbach struggled to cope with Dortmund’s intensity but gradually found their footing late in the opening period, Florian Neuhaus seeing an effort blocked by Süle.

The visitors emerged with greater purpose in the second half. Neuhaus tested Dortmund again early on, only for Emre Can to block, while the match became more physical as Dortmund looked to protect their lead.

Chances continued to fall Dortmund’s way. Guirassy had a goal ruled out for offside, while Nicolas produced another excellent save to deny substitute Maximilian Beier late on. Despite Gladbach’s increased pressure, Dortmund remained defensively solid and limited clear-cut opportunities.

Beier seals the win in stoppage time

Dortmund finally put the result beyond doubt deep into stoppage time. Fabio Silva played Beier through inside the box, and the substitute kept his composure to slot home in the 97th minute and secure all three points.

The victory keeps Dortmund firmly among the Bundesliga pace-setters, with the Black-Yellows having lost just once in the league this season.

Man of the Match: Julian Brandt

Julian Brandt set the tone for Dortmund’s performance with his early goal and influential display. The midfielder dictated play, linked attacks and consistently troubled the Gladbach defence.

His opener marked his 40th Bundesliga goal for the club, and he was voted Man of the Match by supporters after another commanding performance.
