Aston Villa Statement Win Against Manchester United
Morgan Rogers delivered another dazzling performance as Aston Villa extended their winning run to ten matches in all competitions with a 2-1 victory over Manchester United. The in-form winger scored twice to keep Unai Emery’s side firmly in the Premier League title conversation, moving them to within three points of leaders Arsenal heading into Christmas.
A week after his spectacular winner at West Ham, the 23-year-old once again proved decisive, combining confidence, technique and composure on a night Villa underlined their growing credentials as genuine contenders.
Villa Control, United Punished
Villa started with authority at Villa Park, pressing aggressively and forcing United into repeated errors. Rogers was at the heart of everything, repeatedly driving at a stretched defence and testing United’s resolve.
His opening goal arrived late in the first half and was worthy of the occasion. Cutting inside from the left, Rogers bent a superb strike beyond the reach of André Onana to give Villa a deserved lead. It was another reminder of his rapid rise and increasing influence in Emery’s system.
United briefly responded before the break when Matheus Cunha capitalised on Matty Cash being dispossessed, restoring parity and threatening to disrupt Villa’s momentum.

Second-Half Response Seals It
Any hope of a United revival was short-lived. Villa re-emerged with renewed intensity and Rogers struck again after the interval, hammering home his second to reassert control and deflate the visitors.
The goal capped another dominant showing and ensured Villa claimed a seventh consecutive Premier League win, further strengthening belief around Villa Park that this side can sustain a title challenge.
United’s Problems Deepen
Manchester United’s evening was compounded by fitness concerns. Already missing seven senior players, they lost captain Bruno Fernandes at half-time after he appeared to suffer a hamstring injury. With Kobbie Mainoo also absent through a calf issue, Erik ten Hag’s options were limited as United slipped to only their second defeat in 11 matches.
For Villa, however, the focus remains firmly forward. With momentum, confidence and a match-winner in red-hot form, Emery’s side continue to send a clear message to the league.
