Arsenal Spend Big in Summer Transfers
Arsenal have completed one of their busiest transfer windows in history, spending more than £251 million on new players. The Gunners have brought in several big names as they look to fight for trophies this season.
The most expensive signing was England international Eberechi Eze, who joined from Crystal Palace for £67.5 million. Eze has a special story with Arsenal, as he returns to the club after being released at the age of 13. He will now wear the famous No.10 shirt in North London. Another huge arrival is Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, who moved from Sporting Lisbon for £64 million after scoring an incredible 97 goals in 102 games in Portugal. He has been handed the legendary No.14 shirt once worn by Thierry Henry.

Arsenal also strengthened their midfield with the signing of Spanish international Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad for £56 million. His move was confirmed despite late interest from Real Madrid. In addition, winger Noni Madueke joined from Chelsea for £48.5 million, with Mikel Arteta calling him one of the most talented wide players in the Premier League. Young defender Cristhian Mosquera arrived from Valencia for £13 million, while experienced midfielder Christian Nørgaard signed from Brentford in a £9 million deal.
To add depth in goal, Arsenal completed the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea for £5 million. Meanwhile, Ecuadorian defender Piero Hincapié joined on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, with a permanent £45 million transfer agreed for next summer. The Gunners also secured the services of young left-back Marcell Washington, the son of former Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand, who signed his first professional contract with the club.

Alongside these arrivals, several players have departed the Emirates. Nuno Tavares completed a permanent move to Lazio for £6.5 million, while Albert Sambi Lokonga joined Hamburg for £2.6 million. Brazilian winger Marquinhos moved to Cruzeiro after years of loan spells, and long-serving academy graduate Reiss Nelson left for Brentford on loan. Other loan exits included Oleksandr Zinchenko to Nottingham Forest, Fábio Vieira to Hamburg, and Jakub Kiwior to Porto.
Some well-known names left the club permanently. Midfielder Thomas Partey signed a free transfer with Villarreal, while Kieran Tierney returned to his boyhood club Celtic after six years at Arsenal. Jorginho also departed, joining Flamengo in Brazil. The club confirmed the mutual termination of defender Takehiro Tomiyasu’s contract, allowing him to leave as a free agent. Youngsters like Nathan Butler-Oyedeji and Jack Henry-Francis also left in search of new opportunities.

This summer has truly reshaped Arsenal’s squad. With major arrivals like Eze, Gyökeres and Zubimendi, the Gunners have shown clear ambition. But with many senior players moving on, fans will be eager to see how quickly Mikel Arteta’s new-look team can come together and compete at the highest level.
