Algeria Fly to World Cup 2026 as Africa’s Drama Unfolds!

Desert Foxes Seal Their Ticket

Algeria are going back to the World Cup!
The Desert Foxes crushed Somalia 3–0 to secure top spot in Group G and guarantee their place at the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

Mohamed Amoura and Riyad Mahrez were unplayable in Oran. Amoura opened the scoring just six minutes in, volleying home Mahrez’s teasing cross. Mahrez doubled the lead with a rocket into the top corner before turning provider again — setting up Amoura’s header for 3–0.

It was vintage Algeria: sharp passing, ruthless finishing, and total control. The win gave them an unassailable lead in the group — another proud moment for fans who still remember the team’s thrilling run to the 2014 World Cup knockouts.

Uganda Strengthen Grip on Second

Behind Algeria, Uganda made sure they remain in the race for a playoff spot with a 1–0 win away to Botswana.
Jude Ssemugabi’s 54th-minute header sealed the points after Rogers Mato had gone close earlier. The Cranes now sit three points clear in second place, knowing a draw in their final match against Algeria would keep them safe.

Guinea Strike, Mozambique Collapse

Elsewhere in the group, Guinea shocked Mozambique 2–1 in Maputo. Abdoul Traore scored both goals — a close-range header and a long-range strike — while Reinildo netted Mozambique’s only reply.

Despite the victory, Guinea are out along with Botswana, while Mozambique’s qualifying hopes hang by a thread.

Group H and F Drama

In Group H, Liberia’s 3–1 victory over Namibia set up a thrilling finish. Ayouba Kosiah’s early penalty and Sulahmana Bah’s composed finish put Liberia in charge before Edward Ledlum’s late curler sealed it. Namibia’s David Ndeunyema scored a late consolation, but the Brave Warriors’ playoff hopes took a huge hit.

In Group F, Kenya edged Burundi 1–0 thanks to substitute Ryan Ogam’s curling strike in the 73rd minute. Burundi played nearly the entire match with ten men after Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana was sent off early.

Kenya’s win came too late to change the standings — both sides were already eliminated — but it ended their campaign on a high.
