Burnley stun Crystal Palace with dramatic comeback win

Clarets end long winless run in thrilling Selhurst Park clash

Burnley produced a stunning comeback to defeat Crystal Palace 3-2 at Selhurst Park, ending their 16-match Premier League winless streak in dramatic fashion.

The visitors overturned a two-goal deficit in the first half to silence the home crowd and spoil Jorgen Strand Larsen’s impressive home debut for Palace.

Dream start for Strand Larsen and Palace

Crystal Palace looked in full control early on and their club-record signing Strand Larsen quickly made his mark.

The Norwegian striker opened the scoring in the 17th minute after latching onto a precise long pass and calmly finishing past Martin Dúbravka.

Strand Larsen doubled Palace’s advantage in the 33rd minute, nodding home Jefferson Lerma’s cross to give the hosts what looked like a comfortable lead.

Burnley spark stunning first half turnaround

Burnley responded just before halftime and completely shifted the momentum of the match.

Hannibal Mejbri pulled a goal back in the 40th minute after being left unmarked inside the penalty area and finishing confidently past Dean Henderson.

The Clarets equalised only four minutes later when Lesley Ugochukwu drove forward and set up Jaidon Anthony, who finished calmly to level the score.

Burnley completed the remarkable turnaround during stoppage time when a corner caused chaos in the Palace box. Henderson’s attempted clearance deflected off Lerma and into the net for an own goal, giving Burnley a shock halftime lead.

Palace push for response but Burnley hold firm

Crystal Palace searched for an equaliser throughout the second half and created several opportunities.

Maxence Lacroix and Daichi Kamada both came close, while Ismaïla Sarr nearly rescued a point in stoppage time. However, Dúbravka produced a crucial late save to secure Burnley’s victory.

Historic moment ends Burnley drought

The victory marks Burnley’s first league win in 16 matches and represents one of their most memorable comebacks of the season.

For Palace manager Oliver Glasner, who is set to leave the club at the end of the campaign, his 100th match in charge ended in disappointment after his side failed to protect a strong early lead.
