Cole Palmer hat trick fires Chelsea to victory over Wolves
Palmer shines as Chelsea extend perfect run under Rosenior
Cole Palmer delivered a sensational first-half hat trick as Chelsea secured a commanding 3-1 Premier League victory over Wolves at Molineux, maintaining their perfect record under head coach Liam Rosenior.
After a difficult spell affected by fitness concerns and a lack of goals, Palmer returned to top form in emphatic fashion. The England international converted two penalties before completing his treble with a clinical finish following a flowing Chelsea team move.
The performance also saw Palmer become Chelsea’s all-time leading Premier League hat trick scorer with four, surpassing several club legends. The win marked Chelsea’s fourth consecutive league victory under Rosenior and further highlighted the growing balance and confidence within the squad.
Wolves struggled throughout the first half and, despite an improved second-half display, were unable to recover after falling three goals behind.
Wolves defensive errors allow Chelsea to take control
The opening goal arrived after just 13 minutes following a costly mistake from Wolves captain Matt Doherty, who fouled João Pedro inside the penalty area despite the attacker moving away from goal. Palmer stepped up and calmly placed his penalty into the bottom corner.
Chelsea continued to dominate possession and chances. Marc Cucurella and Moisés Caicedo both saw attempts blocked, while Enzo Fernández was denied by Wolves goalkeeper José Sá, who also produced a strong save to keep out Malo Gusto.
Wolves gifted Chelsea a second penalty when Yerson Mosquera pushed Pedro in the back inside the box. Palmer once again remained composed from the spot, doubling Chelsea’s advantage.
Chelsea’s third goal showcased their attacking quality. Fernández initiated the move by releasing Cucurella down the left flank, and the full-back delivered a precise cut-back that Palmer finished powerfully into the roof of the net.

Wolves show brief response after halftime but deficit proves too large
Wolves supporters voiced frustration as several decisions went against their team during the first half, including a rejected penalty appeal after Mateus Mané went down inside the box.
The home side responded with greater urgency after the break. Mané came close to scoring with a curling effort that struck the post, and Wolves capitalised shortly afterwards from a corner. Tolu Arokodare reacted quickly inside the penalty area to score and give the home crowd brief hope.
Despite their improved performance in the second half, Wolves were unable to create enough clear chances to threaten a comeback. The defeat leaves them in a difficult league position as they continue to fight against relegation.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s strong run of form under Rosenior strengthens their growing momentum and reinforces optimism surrounding their long-term progress.
