Estêvão Shines as Chelsea Claim First Away Win Under Rosenior
Teenager inspires victory at Selhurst Park
Estêvão scored once and provided an assist as Chelsea earned a 3–1 win over 10-man Crystal Palace, securing their first Premier League away victory under Liam Rosenior. The 18-year-old Brazilian punished a Palace error to open the scoring before setting up João Pedro early in the second half.
Enzo Fernández added a third from the penalty spot just after the hour, while Palace’s afternoon worsened when Adam Wharton was sent off for a second yellow card. Chris Richards headed home a late consolation as the Eagles’ winless run stretched to 11 matches in all competitions.
Palace threaten before Chelsea take control
Chelsea, missing Cole Palmer, started cautiously and were nearly punished early on when Benoît Badiashile lost possession under pressure. Ismaïla Sarr fed Jean-Philippe Mateta, but Robert Sánchez saved well with his foot.
The visitors gradually settled, with Fernández firing over and Moisés Caicedo flashing an effort wide. Palace remained dangerous, though, and only a well-timed slide from Andrey Santos denied Brennan Johnson after an excellent cross from Daniel Muñoz.
Sarr nearly capitalised on a loose ball inside the box, reacting sharply but unable to poke past Sánchez. That miss proved costly as a careless backpass from Jaydee Canvot allowed Estêvão to race through and fire a powerful left-footed strike past Dean Henderson in the 34th minute.
Goals, red card and control after the break
Chelsea doubled their lead just four minutes into the second half. Estêvão turned provider, slipping the ball to João Pedro, who cut inside Wharton’s challenge and finished confidently.
The Blues continued to press, with Estêvão denied again by Henderson. VAR was then called into action after João Pedro’s close-range effort struck Canvot, with referee Darren England ruling accidental handball but still awarding a penalty. Fernández converted calmly into the bottom corner.
Palace’s task became even harder when Wharton was dismissed for a second booking in the 73rd minute. Brennan Johnson fired narrowly wide soon after, before Richards headed home late on following a ricocheted clearance, offering only brief consolation for the hosts.
