Malen Leaves Aston Villa for Roma as Transfer Window Heats Up
Malen Departs Villa After One Season
Donyell Malen has left Aston Villa after just one year at the club, completing a move to Roma. The Serie A side have signed the Netherlands forward on loan with an option to buy.
The loan fee is reported to be £1.7 million, with a permanent transfer fee of £21.6 million set to apply if certain conditions are met.
Malen joined Villa in January 2025 after four years at Borussia Dortmund. He made 46 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals before his move to Italy.
Roma are currently fifth in Serie A, seven points behind leaders Inter, and face Torino away on Sunday.

Abraham Linked With Possible Return
Malen’s exit could be part of a wider deal between the clubs. Tammy Abraham, currently a Roma player on loan at Besiktas, has been linked with a return to Villa Park.
The England striker previously spent a season on loan at Aston Villa, but no agreement has yet been confirmed.
Sunderland Complete Ta Bi Signing
Sunderland have signed winger Jocelin Ta Bi from Maccabi Netanya on a four-and-a-half-year contract.
The 20-year-old Ivorian, who attracted interest from Celtic and several French clubs, spent the first half of the season on loan at Hapoel Petah Tikva. He made 12 appearances in the Israeli Premier League, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
Ta Bi will not be available for Sunderland’s home match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Raspadori Returns to Serie A With Atalanta
Giacomo Raspadori has returned to Italy after a difficult spell at Atlético Madrid, signing for Atalanta.
The 25-year-old Italy international managed just two goals in 15 appearances during his six months in La Liga. Atalanta have handed him a contract until 2030, with Italian media reporting a transfer fee of €25 million plus bonuses.
The move gives Raspadori a chance to revive his career in Serie A, where he previously won two league titles with Napoli.
