Spurs Go Flat as Frank’s Return Ends Without Fire

Quiet Night at the Gtech

Thomas Frank’s return to Brentford should have been an emotional moment. Instead, it ended in frustration as Tottenham were held to a dull 0–0 draw at the Gtech Community Stadium. Frank, who spent seven years building Brentford into a Premier League side, received warm applause before kick-off. Once the game started, however, there was little for Spurs fans to celebrate.

Tottenham failed to register a single shot on target until stoppage time. As the match dragged on, frustration spilled into the stands, with travelling supporters chanting “boring, boring Tottenham” late in the second half.

Missed Chances and Early Warning

Brentford thought they had taken the lead after just four minutes. Nathan Collins’ header was saved by Guglielmo Vicario, and Kevin Schade followed in to score, but the flag went up for offside. It was an early warning Spurs did not fully heed.

Tottenham’s first real chance came after 33 minutes. Richarlison volleyed the ball across goal and Archie Gray’s header was blocked by Collins. Richarlison reacted quickest to the rebound but fired well over the bar. It summed up a poor first half from both sides, with little quality and even less urgency.

Brentford Ask More Questions

Brentford were sharper after the break. Schade remained a constant threat, while Yehor Yarmolyuk and Keane Lewis-Potter caused problems with their movement. Vicario was forced into a strong save from Yarmolyuk’s header, and moments later Igor Thiago blasted over after good work from Michael Kayode.

Tottenham had brief spells of pressure. Mohammed Kudus drove a long-range effort just over the bar, and there was a short VAR check when Archie Gray went down in the box, but no penalty was given. Spurs lacked ideas in the final third and struggled to connect midfield with attack.

Flat Finish for Spurs

As the match entered its final stages, Brentford looked more likely to score. Spurs defended deeper, relying on Vicario to keep them level. In stoppage time, Richarlison finally tested Caoimhín Kelleher, but his weak effort was comfortably saved.

The final whistle confirmed a goalless draw that suited neither side. For Brentford, it was another solid home display. For Tottenham, and for Frank on his return, it felt like a missed opportunity and another performance that raised questions about direction and attacking intent.
