United Wake Up Wolves Fall Apart
United Respond After Old Trafford Frustration
Manchester United returned to winning form with a convincing 4–1 victory away at Wolves, ending their recent struggles and moving up to sixth place. For Wolves, it was another painful night in a season that continues to spiral downward, leaving them bottom of the Premier League with just two points from their first 15 matches. The match took place in a tense atmosphere, with loud protests aimed at the club’s ownership and players.

First-Half Chaos and Late Wolves Equaliser
United began strongly and controlled the early stages. Wolves fans, already frustrated with the team’s decline, booed every touch from former star Matheus Cunha and chanted against the club’s ownership. Sam Johnstone kept Wolves in the match with key saves from Diogo Dalot and Bryan Mbeumo.
The breakthrough came in the 25th minute when André was dispossessed by Casemiro, allowing Bruno Fernandes to recover from a slip, turn Emmanuel Agbadou and squeeze a shot past Johnstone. United threatened to score again minutes later, but Johnstone again denied Mbeumo, and Cunha saw an effort cleared off the line.
Despite United’s control, Wolves somehow found a leveller in first-half stoppage time. A deep cutback from David Moller Wolfe bounced awkwardly, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde reacted quickly to score Wolves’ first Premier League goal since late October. It was a rare positive moment in an otherwise painful first half for the home supporters.
United Take Over After the Break
United responded immediately after halftime with renewed energy. A strong challenge from Luke Shaw started a swift counterattack. Cunha played in Dalot, and when Johnstone rushed out, Dalot calmly squared the ball for Mbeumo to guide into an empty net. The relief within the United team was clear.
Just minutes later, Fernandes produced another moment of quality, clipping a precise ball into the box for Mason Mount to finish confidently and make it 3–1. Wolves struggled to respond, and the atmosphere grew more toxic as supporters voiced their anger at both the players and the club’s hierarchy.

Fernandes Completes the Job
United continued to push, and after Yerson Mosquera was penalised for handling a shot from Amad Diallo, VAR sent referee Michael Salisbury to the monitor. The decision was confirmed as a penalty, and Fernandes struck with power to secure his second goal of the match. Nine minutes of added time were met with boos, and even louder jeers accompanied the final whistle as Wolves’ nightmare season rolled on.
