Rob Edwards Returns to Wolves as New Head Coach
Wolves have appointed Rob Edwards as their new head coach on a three-and-a-half-year deal, bringing the former defender back for his fourth spell at the club. The 42-year-old replaces Vítor Pereira, who was sacked earlier this month after a poor start to the Premier League season.
Wolves pay £3m to bring Edwards home
Wolves paid £3 million to Middlesbrough to secure Edwards, who had only been in charge there for 15 games. Despite his short spell, he had guided Boro to second place in the Championship.
Edwards, who was born in Telford, said the chance to return to Molineux was too good to refuse. The move also brings him closer to his family, who still live nearby.

A familiar face with a new vision
Executive chairman Jeff Shi said Edwards was chosen not only for his football knowledge but also for his connection to the club and city.
“He knows Wolves, the fans and the culture. We need to refresh the whole club with his philosophy and identity,” said Shi.
Edwards previously worked at Wolves as a player, academy coach, and caretaker manager. His understanding of the club’s structure and history makes him a natural fit to lead this new chapter.
Building belief on and off the pitch
Wolves director Matt Jackson praised Edwards’s energy and leadership, saying the team needs “belief and accountability” after collecting just two points from 11 games. He believes Edwards will help the squad rediscover its identity and fight to escape the bottom of the Premier League.

Backroom staff and next steps
Edwards brings Harry Watling with him from Middlesbrough as part of his backroom team. More coaching additions are expected before his first game in charge against Crystal Palace on 22 November at Molineux.
The new boss faces a huge challenge as Wolves look to avoid a fifth straight defeat and start climbing off the foot of the table.
