BET TIP: London Derby Chaos Incoming

Match Preview

One shot at domestic silverware has already passed Thomas Frank by, as Tottenham’s inconsistent form resurfaced in their EFL Cup defeat to Newcastle. Two headed goals from Fabian Schar and Nick Woltemade sent Spurs crashing out in midweek, a harsh reminder after their Premier League statement win at Everton.

The Europa League winners became the first team to win at Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Micky van de Ven’s brace and Pape Sarr’s strike sealing a 3-0 win. Despite that, Spurs have managed just one win from their last five games in all competitions.

The table tells a slightly kinder story. Tottenham sit third, five points behind leaders Arsenal, but their home form remains a concern. They’ve taken just one point from their last three league games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where only Burnley have been beaten this season.

Chelsea Thriving Away from Home

Chelsea, meanwhile, come into this London clash after three consecutive away wins, though they nearly threw away a commanding EFL Cup lead against Wolves. The Blues led 3-0 before holding on for a 4-3 victory, marking a Premier League first four different scorers aged 21 or under in a single game.

However, their league form is far less convincing. A 2-1 home loss to Sunderland last week was their third defeat in five Premier League games, leaving them ninth in the table. Only twice in the last 30 years have Chelsea lost four of their first 10 league matches.

Still, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been kind to them. Chelsea’s unforgettable 4-3 win there last season was their fifth Premier League victory at the ground more than any other visiting club.

Team News

Tottenham’s injury list is severe. Yves Bissouma, Kota Takai, Dominic Solanke, Radu Dragusin, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, and Ben Davies are all ruled out. The fitness of Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, Archie Gray, and Wilson Odobert remains uncertain, though Guglielmo Vicario should return in goal.

Van de Ven will lead the defence again, while Kudus, Tel, and Kolo Muani are expected to rotate up front.

Chelsea will be without suspended forward Liam Delap after his midweek red card, along with Palmer, Essugo, Badiashile, Colwill, and Mudryk. Joao Pedro and Andrey Santos are set to start, while Garnacho could replace Jamie Gittens despite his cup heroics.

Prediction

Chaos and drama tend to follow when these sides meet in north London. Chelsea’s last three games have produced 16 goals, and Spurs are equally capable of brilliance and collapse. Expect an open, end-to-end contest.

Prediction: Tottenham 1–2 Chelsea
