Uganda Rise, Liberia Charge, Mozambique Stumble: Africa Heats Up!
Ssemugabi Heads Uganda Forward
Uganda’s World Cup journey is alive and kicking!
The Cranes beat Botswana 1–0 in Gaborone, a result that keeps them firmly in second behind already-qualified Algeria.
Jude Ssemugabi was the hero, nodding in after 54 minutes. Rogers Mato nearly added a second, but Botswana’s keeper kept it out. Uganda’s defence then held firm through a tense finale.

Guinea Spoil Mozambique’s Hopes
Mozambique’s World Cup chase took a major hit after a 2–1 home defeat to Guinea. Abdoul Traore struck twice — in the 2nd and 59th minutes — while Reinildo briefly levelled for the hosts.
The loss leaves Mozambique three points behind Uganda and facing a must-win finale against Algeria.
Liberia’s Stunning Win Over Namibia
In Group H, Liberia shocked Namibia 3–1 to move within one point of second place. Ayouba Kosiah converted an early penalty, Sulahmana Bah doubled the lead, and Edward Ledlum sealed it late on.
Namibia’s Ndeunyema netted a late reply, but the Brave Warriors’ hopes of reaching the play-off now hang in the balance.
Kenya’s Bright Finish
Kenya closed their campaign in style with a hard-fought 1–0 win over Burundi. Ryan Ogam’s long-range beauty in the 73rd minute separated the sides after Burundi went down to ten men early.
Goalkeeper Bryne Odhiambo made a heroic late save to protect the lead — a positive finish for a team already out of contention.
