Gunners Aim High: Arsenal’s Bold Plan to Reclaim London’s Biggest Stadium

Bigger, louder, and ready to reclaim London’s top spot.

Arsenal could soon be welcoming even more fans to the Emirates Stadium. The club is reportedly exploring plans to expand its 60,700-seater home to around 70,000, which would once again make it the largest club stadium in London.

The idea is being driven by Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE), Arsenal’s American owners, who see the project as both a financial and fan-focused move. With over 100,000 supporters waiting for season tickets, the demand is undeniable — and the extra seats could deliver a serious boost to matchday revenue.

Early stages, big ambition

A dedicated working group has been assessing the possibilities since last year, with several options on the table. One plan involves adjusting the angle of the stands to add more seats without dramatically changing the stadium’s look. Another idea is a smaller, less disruptive upgrade — but the dream of hitting 70,000 capacity is very much alive.

If a major renovation happens, some reports suggest Arsenal could temporarily relocate to Wembley. That would be a nostalgic return — the club played Champions League matches there in the late ’90s.

Boardroom changes & fresh leadership

Behind the scenes, there’s movement too. Following the departure of vice-chair Tim Lewis, Stan and Josh Kroenke will continue as co-chairs, with Richard Garlick stepping up as chief executive. New board members include Kelly Blaha, Otto Maly, and Ben Winston, a well-known producer.

Maly, who worked on Los Angeles’s SoFi Stadium, may bring his expertise to the Emirates project. And on the pitch? Keeper David Raya and forward Leandro Trossard have signed improved deals — proof that Arsenal are building for a bigger, brighter future, on and off the field.
