Wolves 2025/26 Season Preview
Preparing for Survival
Wolves are preparing for another Premier League season, hoping to avoid the fight against relegation. Last year, they barely escaped — Vítor Pereira took over after a rough start and managed to keep them safe by March.

Looking Ahead with Caution
The team proved it could win even without Matheus Cunha, who was suspended for part of last season. André and João Gomes remain in the squad — two strong midfielders — but Jørgen Strand Larsen faces pressure to match last year’s strong performance, when he scored 14 goals.
However, the squad looks less prepared this season after the departure of players like Cunha, Rayan Aït-Nouri, and Nélson Semedo. These three played large parts in Wolves’ goals last season, and now they’re gone.
What Wolves Need
Pereira wants more signings: a right wing-back to take over from Semedo, a new striker, and a midfielder to fill gaps left by the departures. They aim to bring in Jhon Arias, a dynamic winger from Fluminense, hoping he can make a rapid impact.

Off the Pitch Matters Too
Fans are feeling uneasy about the club’s direction. Many worry that the owner, Fosun, lacks ambition — especially as the club enters its eighth straight season in the top flight. A pre-season without wins didn’t help calm nerves.
On the brighter side, Wolves recently formed a new football leadership team, led by sporting director Domenico Teti, who is reuniting with Pereira from their days in Saudi Arabia. The club’s finances appear stable, and plans are underway to redevelop the Steve Bull Stand to include better hospitality areas.
Rising Talent
There is promise in the squad. Fer López, a 21-year-old attacking midfielder signed from Celta Vigo, is viewed as a next big talent after only limited time in La Liga.
Another exciting name is Mateus Mané, a teenager with seven goals and four assists for Wolves’ under-18s last season. He’s fast-tracked into the first team and could play a significant role this season.

Players to Watch
Ki-Jana Hoever, who hasn’t played since March 2022, impressed in pre-season and looks set to start as a right wing-back. After several loan spells, he has a chance to prove himself.
Sasa Kalajdzic, a tall striker recovering from injuries, could return to action and add depth to the attack.
Prediction
With many departures and new faces still settling in, Wolves look set to face another tough season. On average, writers expect them to finish around 16th, just above the relegation zone.
If they can quickly blend young talent with Pereira’s tactical experience, they might just edge into mid-table. But realistically, a 17th-place finish — scraping safe again — seems likely.
